Physiotherapy Department Commissioned at St. Jude Hospital

The commissioning of the Physiotherapy Department on 21 November 2025 marked an important step in bringing services into operation at the new hospital facility.

On 21 November 2025, St. Jude Hospital, Saint Lucia successfully commissioned the Physiotherapy Department at the new hospital facility.

The milestone brought the department into its new clinical environment and advanced the hospital’s wider transition to its new home. It followed a coordinated period of planning, preparation and operational readiness involving the Physiotherapy team and supporting services across the hospital.

Preparing the department for service

Commissioning the Physiotherapy Department required the hospital to turn a completed space into a working clinical service.

Treatment areas had to be prepared, equipment and supplies had to be placed, and the systems required for daily operations had to be made ready. Staff also needed time to become familiar with the new environment and establish how the department would function within the wider hospital facility.

Each part of the process required careful coordination. Teams had to identify outstanding needs, address practical issues and confirm that the department was prepared to begin operating from its new location.

Supporting patient care and rehabilitation

The Physiotherapy Department is an important part of patient care and rehabilitation at St. Jude Hospital. Its commissioning allowed the team to begin delivering services from the new facility and established another active clinical area within the hospital’s new home.

The move required staff to adjust to a new working environment while maintaining their focus on the patients who depend on the service. Their preparation, flexibility and commitment were central to the department’s successful commissioning.

A coordinated hospital effort

The commissioning was made possible through the combined work of the Physiotherapy team and the clinical, technical, administrative and operational staff who supported the process.

Their responsibilities included preparing the department, coordinating equipment and supplies, addressing facility and technology needs, supporting safety and cleanliness, and confirming the practical arrangements required for daily operations.

Each contribution helped move the department from preparation into active service.

St. Jude Hospital recognises the staff members who gave their time, knowledge and effort to complete this important stage of the hospital’s transition.

Building experience for the wider transition

The commissioning of the Physiotherapy Department provided valuable experience for the continued movement of services into the new hospital facility.

Every completed department helps the hospital strengthen its approach to planning, readiness checks, communication, coordination and staff support. These lessons can be applied as additional services are prepared and brought into operation.

The successful commissioning of the Physiotherapy Department on 21 November 2025 remains an important milestone in the hospital’s progress. It reflects the commitment of staff across the organisation and their shared focus on preparing the new facility to serve the people of southern Saint Lucia.

St. Jude Hospital extends its sincere appreciation to the Physiotherapy team and everyone who contributed to this achievement.
